The purpose of the evidenced-based project study was to evaluate the effectiveness of sepsis protocol therapy on patients admitted to the hospital with sepsis and whether or not that therapy improved mortality rates. A systematic literature collection and review was conducted to identify professional journal articles relating to specific studies utilizing early goal directed therapy. Findings of these studies indicate that implementation of a sepsis protocol significantly improves the mortality rate in patients diagnosed with sepsis over those that did not undergo therapy. Based on these findings, it is recommended that health care facilities integrate a sepsis protocol for the treatment of patients diagnosed with sepsis to improve patient outcome. [Poster]
