Consolidation ‘Disliked Immensely’ by NGCSU Students

Abstract

In order to determine student perceptions of the merger, our group performed a survey that asked descriptive questions, questions regarding degree value, student and faculty outcomes, and allowed respondents to ask questions or share their thoughts in an open-ended format. As a group, the student respondents at North Georgia (N = 130) were clearly opposed to the merger. Generally speaking, students were most concerned about the value of their degree decreasing, but were also concerned about future class sizes and locations. Data collection efforts currently underway include surveying students at Gainesville State College, and faculty from both locations. Faculty Adviser: Stephen Smith.
