Abstract
Privacy has been evolving as technology advances and is getting more and more controversial. With the developments of social media, Global Positioning Systems (GPS), and other technological advances, the essence of privacy has been evolving. Courts have been struggling with the definition and application of a "reasonable expectation of privacy". This paper will examine how privacy has been affected by technological advances and how these changes have affected the criminal justice system. It will determine whether the current case law effectively reflects technology-driven changes in privacy.
