Abstract
Hospitalized patients who are bed bound are often subject to anticoagulant therapy during admission. There are two common types of therapy used to prevent blood clots: anti-blood clotting devices and chemical substances to prevent blood clots. Anti-blood clotting devices include sequential compression devices, TED hose, plexipulses, etc. Chemical agents used in preventing blood clots include medicine such as heparin, aspirin, warfarin, Coumadin, etc. This raises the question of which intervention has more effect on the patient. This report includes an in-depth look at which anticoagulant therapy is most beneficial in reducing the chances of obtaining a blood clot during hospitalization. The studies looked at randomized controlled tests with participants ranging from 500-1200. Each study conducted their research with hospitalized patients. The aim of this research was to find the most efficient anticoagulant therapy.
