Abstract

The purpose of this project is to identify the effects of a women’s’ maternal diet on the future health of the unborn child. The method used was searching online databases as Medline, CINAHL and Pubmed, to research several primary sources on various aspects of the question at hand. Several different studies were found, may suggested that certain diets and certain food consumed during pregnancy can have many effects on the child’s future health. These effects include weight, cardiovascular health, stress management, allergies and asthma. The maternal diet can clearly affect lifelong health of the child; further research should be conducted to determine the best maternal diet with fewer side effects on the unborn child. Researchers should make note of trends to test further; in doing this we can encourage a healthier maternal diet that will increase the number of healthier infants. [Poster]
