Abstract
Everyone learns the visceral reality of life and death at some point in their life. This may occur at the absolute last moment of consciousness as the soul leaves the body or at any age as a result of profound thought and consideration. In my case, I was a child. I saw a car crash and saw the bloodied fragments of the dead. It was not the corpses that bothered me so much, but rather the thought of the fragility of human beings. With mind blank and eyes unfocused, as a child of only 8 or 9 years, I consider the most universal truth: death.
