Nada Swim is a swimwear brand that focuses on comfort and a minimal aesthetic. I created this work to test my ability to take on the entirety of creating, manufacturing, and publicizing a product. In addition to creating and hand-making a swimsuit, I photographed and designed the brand elements for Nada Swim which includes stationary, advertisement, internet, and packaging designs.” Throughout the branding I used my personal style of clean and contained design. I designed the brand Nada Swim because of my desire to start my swimwear line. The goal of Nada Swim is to help women feel comfortable and confident in a swimsuit.
Nada is the Spanish word for nothing. I chose this name for my swimwear line because the swimsuits are to feel so comfortable it feels like you’re wearing nothing. Personally I’ve struggled to find a swimsuit that is stylish, comfortable, and flatters my body the way I like. I have always been into beauty and fashion from a young age. I enjoyed dressing up and playing with makeup and even today not much has changed. Confidence is a trait I aspire to embrace, and I want to create swimwear that cultivates this trait in others.
Throughout the branding of Nada Swim, I made very specific decisions on my design choices. For example, keeping the brand monochromatic helped with the cohesiveness. In my logo and throughout my designs, I focused on color and line. I used the wave line design as a key element throughout my branding. I appreciated the simplicity but effective message the wave created and decided to make it a major element in my brand.
Nada Swim is at the very beginning of its journey. I will continue to design and make swimsuits in the near future. In conclusion, I want the viewer to appreciate the graphic designs of Nada Swim. I hope that this body of work conveys my interest in design and inspires others to create.
