“Lovely Margarita” (“La Margarita Bella”)

Abstract

On this piece, I spent three weeks doing around ten portraits, with each being different sizes. Each reflect personal interest, along with references to paintings by Diego Velazquez.The concept of this art was derived from a song by the Beatles- one of my favorite bands- titled ‘Lovely Rita’. This made for a play on words, as the main subject of the art was Enfanta Margarita, of Velazquez’s ’Las Meninas’. The primary tool I used was a wooden palette and acrylics.
