Abstract
This is a ceramic plate representing where my family is from. There are cacti because Monterrey, Mexico is in the dessert. The water represents the river that divides Mexico and the United States in Texas, the Rio Grande. The buildings show that it is a large city of nearly 5 million people but you can still see the influence of the past with things like the Aztec pyramids. At the top of the plate, there is a flag that is half Mexican and half American. This represents the way I feel about my own identity. I was born in the United States but part of me is not only linked but belongs to the country and city where my family is from.
